Parents are outraged Tuesday after reading in a local paper that a New Brunswick Catholic school is closing its doors in June.
The Diocese of Metuchen told St. Peter the Apostle High School administrators that it was closing the school. Parents and students say the school never notified them of the diocese?s decision. The diocese says St. Peter has to be closed because the cost of keeping it open is too great and enrollment is declining.
St. Peter, which is funded by the diocese, has been open for more than 150 years. It will close its doors in June after it graduates its last class. Remaining students say they will now have to research new schools to attend.
