Due to the success of adding two smaller academies in the building that houses I.S. 92, the Department of Education is adding a third school come September.
However, this idea has been met with some opposition from parents.
The two smaller academies replaced I.S. 92. Education officials say the third middle school will be called Mott Hall Community School.
During a meeting Thursday, parents had a chance to voice their concerns to the Department of Education. Many say they are worried valuable resources that their children now enjoy, such as arts and computer labs, will be diluted as a result of adding an additional school.
Not all parents believe the school will have a negative impact on the kids though. One parent says having smaller classrooms and more programs will benefit students.
