The United States House of Representatives voted to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time after a mob of Trump supporters breached the U.S. Capitol building last week.
News 12 New Jersey’s Walt Kane spoke with Democratic Rep. Frank Pallone who voted in favor of impeaching the president.
“I want to emphasize that this is a direct result of what happened last Wednesday with the mob storming the Capitol and trying to disrupt the government. I mean, you know, the president encouraged this march, it was his march,” Pallone said.
Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell said that the soonest an impeachment trial would begin is next Tuesday, a day before President-elect Joe Biden would be sworn in to office.
