There is a new push for social media platforms to stop gruesome images and disinformation from appearing online.
As a ranking member of the energy and commerce committee which oversees technology, Rep. Frank Pallone and other members called on social media companies to be more transparent in their action to prevent graphic, violent content and disinformation from spreading.
Pallone says social media is spreading fear and misinformation about the current state of the Israel-Hamas war.
"We have already demanded that they'll be briefings with what these companies tell us, what they're doing to moderate social content and not allow this," Pallone said.
He says some of the briefings will be held this week.
