Emergency vehicles will swarm the Oyster Creek nuclear power plant in Ocean County, but it will only be a drill.
The Lacey Township facility on Tuesday will conduct an exercise to test the ability of plant personnel and outside agencies to respond quickly in the event of an emergency.
Warning sirens near the plant will not be activated, but residents and those nearby may see emergency vehicles respond to or set up at the plant, and they may hear its public address system being used.
The exercise will begin in the afternoon and last until evening.
Oyster Creek is the nation's oldest nuclear power plant, and is due to close at the end of 2019.
