The past few rainy weekends at the Jersey Shore have meant that many visitors were unable to lay out on the sand and work on their tans.
But the owners of some businesses down the shore say that rain isn’t necessarily a bad thing. They say that there are many things to do at the shore that are indoors when it rains.
“I think indoor things, spending time with family, is good,” says Christina Poole, who is visiting the Jersey Shore from Florida. “And the rain doesn’t scare us. We were on the [boardwalk] when it was raining.”
Jenkinson’s Boardwalk director of marketing Toby Wolf says that people are often scared off by the rain forecast. But she says that a chance of rain doesn’t always mean a washout.
But if it does rain, there's still plenty of things to do at the shore such as arcades and aquariums.
Beach officials urge visitors to check hourly weather forecasts because the rain may sometimes just be a short setback to an otherwise beautiful day.
