The owners of a day care center deny claims they are refusing to cooperate with the investigation into a 21-month-old child's death.
An attorney for the family of Vanessa Gomes says that Step By Step Day Care in Clifton did not hand over surveillance video from the center, but the owners of Step By Step say that this is not true.
"Contrary to media reports, surveillance footage was provided to the police (and) video footage was reviewed by several state agencies the same day of the incident. Any suggestion that we are not giving authorities our fullest cooperation or are withholding information is simply untrue,” the owners said in a statement.
Day care workers say that Gomes went down for a nap on June 7 but never woke up.
The child’s mother was told that she was given CPR and died at the hospital.
A cause of death has not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.
