An overweight dog is on the road to recovery after a vigorous exercise routine.
News 12 New Jersey first reported about a dog named Freddy – a shepherd-mix that was found weighing more than 140 pounds and could hardly walk.
Nurtured and encouraged by Gianna DiMatteo at the Hopatcong Animal Shelter, Freddy was placed on a special diet and attended aqua therapy.
Nearly 10 months later, Freed has lost 70 pounds and is living a more comfortable life.
DiMatteo says that the last step of the dog’s recovery will be skin removal, which is scheduled for July. A
GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for the surgery.
