A New Jersey congresswoman wants to see increased regulation on ammunition purchased online.
Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman says that newly proposed legislation would require federally licensed gun dealers to confirm the identity of individuals who purchase ammunition over the Internet by verifying a photo ID.
"Right now you can buy ammo online without having to give an ID and without having to go and purchase it at a facility face to face," she says. "This legislation is going to require the actual purchase of ammo that is purchased online, to be secured in a face-to-face transaction."
The bill would also require ammunition vendors to report any sales of more than 1,000 rounds within five consecutive days to the U.S. attorney general.
