A water main and a gas main break in Middletown has left residents without water service or drinkable water, according to Mayor Anthony Perry.
Hubbard Avenue is closed near Nutswamp Road due to what is reportedly said to be a 12-inch water main.
“The area is impassable in both directions with an anticipated closure of 24 hours,” officials posted on Twitter.
Water was gushing out of the road and flooding the area. The water has since been turned off.
News 12 New Jersey is told that people who live west of the area are without water.
Residents who do have water pressure are being told not to drink that water due to a gas leak that is also in the area, according to Middletown officials.
The cause of the breaks was not clear.
