A recruit in the 161st New Jersey State Police Academy class is in critical condition following a training exercise injury.
The incident took place at the police academy in Sea Girt. New Jersey State Police says that the 27-year-old recruit was “engaged in an active countermeasures/boxing bout with a fellow classmate…during the bout, he lost consciousness.”
Authorities say that the recruit was given first aid and was taken to the hospital.
State police say that the academy has temporarily suspended the active countermeasures/boxing training while the incident is reviewed.
