Authorities have recovered the body of an elderly woman after a fast-moving fire severely damaged three homes in a Cape May County community and left two other people injured.
County prosecutors announced Friday that 89-year-old Marie Zielinski was found in her apartment in the Sea Isle City home where the fire started. But a cause of death hasn't been determined.
The fire started shortly before noon Thursday and burned for several hours, sending large plumes of thick, black smoke into the air.
Two people who also lived in the home where the fire originated suffered burns and smoke inhalation and were taken to hospitals. Prosecutors say 60-year-old Roy Lombardo was treated and released, but 56-year-old Elizabeth Coleman remained hospitalized Friday.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
