Sen. Chris Murphy says he is concerned after a series of arrests in Danbury were made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers Thursday.

A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson says officers conducted a targeted operation and arrested multiple undocumented immigrants. They say several people arrested are facing serious charges, including sexual assault of a minor, child abuse, kidnapping and assault on police officers.

It's not clear where the in the city these arrests took place or what led to them.

In a Facebook post, Danbury officials say they were not given advance notice of the operation. They also said because neither the city or police department cooperate with federal immigration enforcement, they currently have limited information on the situation, but are working to gather verified information.
