Officials: Forest fire service setting burns to prevent wildfires
Officials say the forest fire service is setting burns across New Jersey to prevent wildfires.
The New Jersey DEP says prescribed burns help reduce the risk of fire in the forest before prime wildfire season, which is typically in April and May in the state.
Officials say this season, they expect to conduct burns on about 35,000 acres.
