Officials: Fire displaces 34 people in Hackensack
Fire officials are working to find the cause of a weekend blaze that displaced 34 people and injured two firefighters in northern New Jersey.
Officials say the fire broke out Saturday afternoon in an apartment building on Main Street in Hackensack. It took firefighters from several towns to control the blaze.
The American Red Cross is assisting the 12 families displaced by the fire. Officials say the building's landlord provided temporary housing for 11 of the families.
Two Hackensack firefighters were treated at a hospital for minor injuries and released.
One dog was rescued from the building and no residents were hurt.
AP wire services contributed to this report.
