State and local leaders gathered in New London Wednesday for the start of electrical production from the Revolution Wind offshore farm.

It started feeding the grid earlier this month following two stop work orders from the Trump administration.

Officials say the project will have a big impact on the state's energy supply.

"We know that project like this coming online are a critical piece of lowering the prices of power in our region," says Katie Dykes, commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. "We're not Texas, we can't just put a pipe in the ground and out comes energy. we have to work at it. and what we're able to do in this section of the state is amazing," says Gov. Ned Lamont. The wind farm will generate more capacity in the next few months and will reach full power before the end of the year. It's expected to account for about 2.5% of the region's energy supply.
