Officials: Boy Scout dies following suspected DWI incident on Long Island

One of five Boy Scouts who were struck by a suspected drunk driver in Manorville on eastern Long Island Sunday has died.
The seventh-grader, identified by police as 12-year-old Andrew McMorris, was one of five people struck and hospitalized. The scouts range in age from 12 to 16 years old.
According to police, Thomas Murphy, 59, of Holbrook, New York, was arrested and charged with DWI.
Police say Murphy hit the scouts from Troop 161. The incident happened just before 2 p.m. as Murphy drove on David Terry Road in Manorville.
Prosecutors say that Murphy admitted to drinking before the crash.
They say a total of 18 Boy Scouts and their leaders were walking northbound on the road when five of them they were struck, allegedly by Murphy.
Prosecutors say the other four boys are recovering.  They say one is in very serious condition.
Murphy was charged with DWI and held in lieu of $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond.  More charges could be pending.
