A two-alarm fire destroyed a home in Irvington Saturday morning, fire officials say.
Firefighters from Irvington, Newark and Maplewood were on scene when the fire started at around 9 a.m.
Flames were shooting out of the top floor as firefighters were told to get off the roof for fear of it collapsing.
A separate hose designated for a neighbor's home successfully kept the fire from spreading.
PSE&G was also at the scene to shut off electricity to the home and nearby homes.
Everyone was able to escape safely, but those who lived there are still feeling the pain.
"I wanna cry because we lost everything," says Evett Edwards.
Neighbors believe the fire started at the bottom floor of the home, though that has not been confirmed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
