(04/07/06) TOMS RIVER ? Sheriffs officers in Ocean County have ranked number one in the amount of arrests associated with a special U.S. Marshals task force.

A program allows the officers to work with a U.S. Marshals NY/NJ regional task force. Once sworn in as deputy marshals, the officers travel throughout the world bringing fugitives to justice. Despite tracking fugitives to places such as Canada, Mexico and Scotland, the officers don?t receive any extra money for their services.

Representatives of the Ocean County Sheriff?s Department say they ranked first due to hard work and exceptional utilization of resources. The latest tally marks the fourth year in a row Ocean County has ranked first in the program.
