The Ocean County Police Chief's Association and lawmakers joined forces Saturday on Point Pleasant Beach to voice their concerns over the state's new marijuana laws.
During a news conference, they said while they're not against the legalization of marijuana, they are against the lack of parental notification and not being able to investigate minors if drug or alcohol use are suspected.
They're also concerned about what the lack of policing will do to the beach town.
Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Paul Kanitra says in a statement, "It's time to say enough is enough. Tell Trenton to stop their continued undermining of our police officers. Demand a return to common sense and renewed law and order."
The police department circulated flyers around the community to ensure their concerns are heard by residents.
