A fifth-grader injured in a deadly school bus crash on Interstate 80 two weeks ago was given a great surprise when he finally returned home from the hospital Tuesday.
Giants linebacker Romeo Okwara surprised young Brendan O’Callaghan when he came home. Okwara also brought the boy a signed football and jersey.
While in the hospital Brendan also received video messages from Henrik Lundqvist of the Rangers and New York Giant Eli Manning.
Brendan was severely injured in the May 17 crash. He and his classmates at East Brook Middle School were on their way to Waterloo Village for a class trip when the bus was struck by a dump truck. Brendan suffered a punctured lung and broken bones. A student and teacher were killed.
The school bus driver is facing charges.
