The PGA Tour returns to Jersey City, as the world’s best golfers come to Liberty National this August for the first time since 2019.
“You don’t ever doubt where you stand with Jersey fans, right? Like they’re going to tell you and they’re going to tell you loudly. If they love you, they are your best fan and I love the energy and the passion of the Jersey fan,” says Northern Trust executive director Julie Tyson.
Tyson says that the tournament is thrilled to have fans back at one of the best and most scenic golf courses in the country.
“From a competitor perspective, it tends to drive a lot of really incredible moments on the golf course, which is what we’re all waiting to see – those memorable moments. So at every level, Liberty National is a cut above,” Tyson says.
Tyson says that this year’s tournament will feature some changes regarding the fan experience, including better parking options and enhanced viewing opportunities at the first and last holes.
“Golf is at a premium, so you can watch golf from anywhere on the golf course more easily and more conveniently. But also, if you’re there for fun, with a side of golf, we’ve got food and beverage and all kinds of shopping experiences. There’s going to be something for everybody and we’ve made it easier to enjoy,” Tyson says.
The Northern Trust is the first event in the FedEx Cup playoffs. But Tyson says that the tournament is about more than just golf.
“Our tournament has always donated money, the proceeds, back to charity…this is a year where we’re going to focus on food scarcity and kids and our community champions with our proceeds of the tournament,” Tyson says.
The tournament takes place Aug. 18-22. Tickets are now on sale.
