A reported threat made toward Lacey Township High School prompted a shelter‑in‑place Tuesday morning while law enforcement investigated, officials said.

Police received a call around 7:10 a.m. threatening violence at the school, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

As a precaution, school officials implemented a shelter‑in‑place while authorities assessed the situation.

Investigators later determined there was no credible threat to students or the public, officials said.

The shelter‑in‑place was lifted around 10:05 a.m., and the school reopened. Authorities say the school remains under heightened security as the investigation continues.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Lacey Township Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office are working to identify the person or people responsible for the threat.
