(07/13/06) LEONIA ? Online gamblers in New Jersey say a recent attempt by the U.S. government to curtail online gambling is not likely to have any affect on the phenomenon.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a measure Tuesday that bans the use of credit cards to pay online bets. However, those who bet frequently with the Web say online gambling has become too big of a beast to tame that easily. They say other methods, such as direct access to bank accounts, are readily available for gamblers to utilize.
While some gamblers use the online sites for practice or leisure, others make it a major part of their life. The credit card measure must still pass the Senate.
