The New Jersey Turnpike Authority released a list Tuesday of the top commercial and individual toll cheaters and says it plans on collecting their overdue fees.
Turnpike Authority officials say some of the violators have racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars in toll fees.
According to the Turnpike Authority, DCS Auto Sales, of Port Newark, has a staggering bill of $235,000. When reached for a statement about its debt, the company told News 12 New Jersey ?no comment.?
Despite the big numbers, a spokesman for the Turnpike Authority says that less than 2 percent of toll revenue is actually lost to people and companies that do not pay. He also warned that unpaid tolls could ultimately lead to arrests.
