New Jersey Transit restored rail service to the Gladstone Branch along the Morris and Essex lines Thursday afternoon following emergency repair work.
Service was suspended Wednesday evening after large chunks of a retaining wall that's adjacent to the tracks that feed the Gladstone Branch began to crumble.
"Safety is our number one priority, so we took the line out of service. Knowing this would be an inconvenience to our customers, but in the abundance of caution, we shut down the line," NJ Transit spokesperson Penelope Bassett said.
NJ Transit said service was restored around 12:30 p.m.
Bassett advised customers to check
