New Jersey Transit is taking Amtrak to task for recent transit problems on Amtrak rails.

Wednesday was the third day in a row that rail commuters faced delays because of overhead Amtrak power issues. Amtrak says the issues stemmed from the recent span of hot weather, aging infrastructure and ongoing issues from Superstorm Sandy.

However, NJ Transit says this is not acceptable and released a statement that says, "NJ Transit pays Amtrak approximately $100 million annual towards keeping the Northeast Corridor running. We have requested of Amtrak to know if our money is truly going towards reliable rail service for our customers."

The delays come not too long after NJ Transit announced a 9 percent increase in fares, as well as service cuts. 

For most of Wednesday, NJ Transit rail tickets were being honored by PATH, buses and New York Waterway. NJ Transit says this was to ensure commuters have alternative travel options in case there were any more issues.
