(12/14/06) SOUTH PLAINFIELD ? Taco Bell lovers in New Jersey are starting to enjoy their favorite fast-food items again Thursday amid an ongoing E. coli mystery.
Health officials now believe lettuce may be the source of the outbreak. However, some still stopped at the South Plainfield location for lunch. A few diners said they are not frightened at all about E. coli. Others are playing it safe, and are ordering items without lettuce.
Taco Bell has ordered its restaurants across the U.S. sanitized and it has also switched distributors to prevent another outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is attempting to find the source of the lettuce possibly contaminated with the bacteria.
