(AP) - New Jersey State Police have taken two people into custody at the Secaucus toll plaza of the New JerseyTurnpike after a lengthy pursuit.

When the suspects' vehicle came to a stop in traffic at the tollplaza around 9:20 a.m. Monday, troopers swarmed the male driver ashe tried to exit the vehicle. A female passenger also was takeninto custody.

State police had been pursuing the late model Toyota Camry onInterstate 80 before it got onto the southbound lanes of theturnpike.

State police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones says the suspectsthrew what appeared to be bags of drugs out the car windows severaltimes during the chase along Route 80.
