Federal grant money is coming to nine New Jersey school districts to bolster security.
The districts are receiving $620,000 from the government for the security upgrades. They will most likely be able to spend their cuts by the end of the school year.
North Brunswick School District intends on spending some of its $83,000 on a new ID system that operates similar to an EZ-Pass. They hope it will not only deter students from trouble, but also eliminate tedious paperwork and allow more time for classroom instruction.
The money is being distributed through the COPS Secure Our Schools Program.
