Mothers in the Garden State urged lawmakers to reform gun laws Sunday morning.

The New Jersey Chapter of Moms Demand Action rallied at the Trenton War Memorial following the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton.

Advocates say they wanted to put an end to "senseless violence" in the country.

"This should not be the normal for us--to go to a place of worship and not be able to close our eyes with the fear that someone will come in and shoot us," said Glenda Torres Scott of Chesterfield Township. "It should not be the normal."

Gov. Phil Murphy and Rep. Frank Palone were also at the event.
