(AP) - A New Jersey man has admitted he wasdriving drunk when his car hit a tree earlier this year, sparking afiery crash that killed his fiancee.
The Feb. 15 crash occurred as Arran Christie of Bridgewater andIvette Agnez of Queens, N.Y., were headed home from a restaurant,where they had gone to celebrate their recent engagement and set awedding date.
Authorities say the vehicle hit a curb and left the road, thenstruck some utility pole guide wires before overturning and hittingthe tree. Christie was thrown from the vehicle as it burst intoflames, and sustained burns on his hands, face and chest when hetried to free Agnez from the car.
Christie pleaded guilty Friday to vehicular homicide and couldface up to 10 years in prison.
