A Hawthorne man was killed in a crash Friday afternoon in Connecticut during the fierce nor'easter.
The crash happened on the Merritt Parkway in Stamford.
Connecticut state police say a tree fell on 25-year-old Jonathan Melendez's car as he was approaching an overpass.
His passenger, 30-year-old Francisco Berdecia of Paterson, suffered minor injuries.
The incident came as a nor'easter pummeled the East Coast with ferocious  winds, snow and heavy rain. Authorities say seven deaths have been blamed on the storm, including in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York and Rhode Island.
Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
