A Morris County man is making the state proud with his project to create a walking trail that connects all the important locations in the Sept. 11 attacks.

Randolph resident Russell Nee came up with the idea of the 9/11 Trial six years ago to connect Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan with Shanksville, Pennsylvania, to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and back to New York. The triangle is 1,300 miles long.

Nee received the Golden Spike Award near the United Flight 93 Memorial. He works with the Morris County Park Commission.

The trail is still being worked on, but is near completion.
