The New Jersey Department of Health says it is closely monitoring a rise in child respiratory illnesses and hospitalizations in China, Europe and in the United States.
The illness is known as “white lung” pneumonia. It is being reported in southern Ohio. But the illness is not guaranteed to remain there.
Symptoms include trouble breathing, severe cough and a high, uncontrollable fever.
The Health Department currently does not foresee a substantial increase in cases in New Jersey.
