As riots and violence continued in Athens for a fifth day, one Edison family with relatives in Greece worried that the end may not be in sight.
Nicholas Pantagis, who owns the Pantagis diner in Edison, says the riots are an example of the frustration and angst Greeks are feeling because of their struggling economy and political discontent. The riots began after Greek police shot and killed a 15-year-old boy last week.
?I was crying because I didn't believe what was going on,? Pantagis says. ?I didn't believe young people would do these things."
Pantagis is one of many Greeks living in New Jersey who fears for the safety of relatives and hopes the situation calms down before getting any worse.
The two police officers accused in the fatal shooting were held in jail Wednesday.
