(AP) - New Jersey's largest food bank ischallenging state residents to spend a week trying to live on foodstamps.
If they accept the challenge, which kicks off Monday, they willbe asked to try to live on the $31.50 per week average given toindividuals receiving food stamps.
The challenge is organized by the Community FoodBank, which isNew Jersey's largest distributor of food and groceries to nonprofitagencies.
Participants can sign up on the FoodBank's web site and sharetheir experiences on the group's Facebook page.
Organizers say they want to promote a new perspective and agreater understanding of the more than 1 million New Jerseyresidents who struggle with "food insecurity," or the notion ofnot having enough to eat.
Community FoodBank of NJ
