The state attorney general is probing the death of a man who died Saturday in police custody in Paterson.

The state attorney general is probing the death of a man who died Saturday in police custody in Paterson.
The police responded to multiple 911 calls around 5:26 p.m. from the 600 block of Madison Avenue about a man walking on roofs and attempting to break into homes.
Police arrived on the scene in the area of 620 Madison Ave. and found the injured man at the exterior rear of the residence.
Two officers attempted to aid the injured man. The man was agitated, and officers briefly handcuffed him to permit them to secure him and get him onto a stretcher.
Officials placed the man on the stretcher, and he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The Attorney General's Office did not release the victim’s name.
