A statue dedicated to a slain beloved Newark street performer was unveiled Tuesday.
Eric “Uggie” Bowens was shot and killed about a year ago on Bergen Street in Newark.
The abstract metal sculpture continues the city’s vision of displaying public art in Newark neighborhoods. A street sign was erected in May also featuring Uggie’s name on Winans Avenue.
Authorities have not made any arrests in the murder.
The Essex County Sheriff’s Department announced a reward recently increased to $30,000 for information leading to an arrest.
