The Newark School District, the state's largest school district, announced Monday night it will be staying remote until at least late January.
The school district had originally planned to introduce a hybrid schedule later this year, but now students will continue to learn virtually until, at least, Jan. 25.
In a post on Facebook, Board of Education President Josephine Garcia says, in part, “We, the Board of Education, will always prioritize the health and safety of our students, staff and community."
Newark has more than 35,000 students across 66 schools.
