Newark police: Series of crashes injure 3; driver in custody

The unnamed driver was “reportedly driving while impaired” and struck two adults, another moving vehicle and two parked cars.

A driver is in the custody of Newark police following a series of crashes involving pedestrians Friday night on Elwood Avenue and Broadway, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.

The unnamed driver was “reportedly driving while impaired” and struck two adults, another moving vehicle and two parked cars.

All three victims were taken to University Hospital for treatment and are in stable condition.

Authorities did not provide information about the charges the driver is facing.
