Newark makes short list for Amazon’s 2nd headquarters

Amazon has announced that Newark could be the new location for the company’s second headquarters.
The company announced Thursday a list of 20 cities that are in the running for the new location. Newark officials celebrated the announcement at City Hall.
“I don’t want to sound smug, but we’re here because we expected to here and we deserve to be here,” said Aisha Glover with Newark Community Economic Development Corp.
The new location could bring as many as 50,000 jobs to New Jersey.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said that the city has everything Amazon needs. This includes lots of space, 20 miles of underground fiber, 60,000 college students and educators and transportation access.
"I said good luck to everybody but Newark is where Amazon should absolutely be,” Baraka said.
