A violent night in Newark Saturday brought the number of homicides for the year to an all-time high, leaving residents begging for a state of emergency.Newark police say 31-year-old Lloyd Shears was shot outside the Bradley Court Housing project and died from a gunshot wound to the head. The shooting brings the numbers of homicides in the city to 101, surpassing last year's total, of 97.Newark residents say there is a war going on, and it?s taking place in their city. They are begging the governor to declare a state of emergency, saying the situation will only get worse if nothing is done.
