A convicted killer arrested for another string of crimes in Essex County pleaded not guilty to a laundry list of charges against him Wednesday.
Newark native Raymond Perry, 43, was convicted of murder in 1982 and later paroled. He also has eight other felony convictions. He and 24-year-old David Fate are now accused of killing Verona gas station attendant Daniel Pritchard and committing several other robberies in the area. Prosecutors say their three-week crime spree ran from Montclair to Bloomfield to Newark to East Orange.
Perry was arrested at his Newark home last week and is being held on $1.4 million bail. His case will go to a grand jury.
Fate was arrested in South Carolina on Tuesday. Prosecutors hope to have him extradited and in a New Jersey courtroom for his arraignment within a week.
