Passengers are urged to give themselves extra time at Newark Liberty International Airport Thursday as the lines grow longer after British officials thwarted a terror plot on aircrafts.

Security has been heightened at all U.S. airports after British officials foiled a plot to blow up several U.S.-bound planes. The terror alert level was raised to the highest level of red on flights from Britain, while all other flights coming or going in the U.S. now have a terror alert level of orange.

The screening lines at Newark airport started to grow after the U.S. government banned liquids, including beverages, hair gels and lotions from all carry-on luggage. Some flights were canceled or delayed after the discovery of the foiled plot. Meanwhile, New Jersey?s homeland security chief says there were no specific threats for Newark airport or anything else in the state, as far as authorities know.
