United Airlines tells News 12 that between Thursday, Aug. 29, through Tuesday, Sept. 3, more than 2.9 million people will use their airlines. That's a 4% increase from last year.
"People love to travel," said Cyrus Sarkari, United's Managing Director of Customer Service. “That's about half a million people a day so it's going to be busy but we are ready."
"We have larger airplanes this year, our teams are ready. We have the staffing in place, network teams are in place and our airport teams especially have been trained and are ready to accept these larger volumes of customers,” said Sarkari.
Port Authority is expecting 6.7 million travelers to use their airports and crossings during the Labor Day travel period.
"Seems to be a year of records for us. The summer has been record-high. Labor Day has been record high," said Sarkari. "We anticipate Thanksgiving and even Christmas holiday will also be some record high numbers."
As always experts say, get to the airport two hours before a flight.
