Many New Jerseyans across the state say that they are not looking forward to the season’s first snowfall, expected to impact the Garden State Thursday afternoon.
Parts of New Jersey are expected to see 3 to 5 inches of snow Thursday afternoon into the evening.
State residents were out shopping for supplies they may need to prepare for this upcoming winter, even though it is still the autumn.
“We had mulch being sold yesterday and now today we’re moving in salt, so it’s a rapid change,” says Dominick Riccelli, with Major Hardware Supply in Cedar Grove.
The hardware store sold salt, ice scrapers and shovels. Many of the customers say that they’d rather be somewhere warmer.
“I like summer and I don’t like snow or the cold,” says Cedar Grove resident Steve McMickle. “I’d rather be in a bathing suit on a beach.”
“I’m never ready for this, but I’ve got my gas cans ready to be filled. I got my snow shovel, so I’m pretty much set,” says Verona resident Chris Heiser.
But some state residents say that they do not see what all the fuss is about.
“People go crazy. Everybody says snow and people go crazy and clear the shelves,” says Mary Wharton-Sampson.
Meteorologists say that the storm should last though the evening, and then clear out by Thursday’s overnight hours.
