At the ShopRite in Edison, the parking lot was full by Saturday morning as residents prepared for the potential storm and braced for continued cold temperatures.
Some shoppers said they were ready for winter to end.
“It should be summer soon enough. And I just hope that the warm weather comes sooner,” said Zoey Harrington.
Last-minute trips to the grocery store have become a familiar routine during what has been an especially cold and snowy winter.
“I don’t want any big storms, but a small storm will be okay. But I don’t want the big blizzard that they’re expecting,” said Jim, another shopper.
Recent warmer temperatures had given some residents hope that the worst of winter was over, leaving the latest forecast less appreciated.
“We haven’t had snow like this in years. I hate grocery shopping. I always put it off till I have to go,” said Maureen Willey. “So I’m listening. It’s like, oh, maybe. Oh, we’ll get a few inches. I get up this morning, I’m like, oh my God, I’m going to be at the grocery store with everyone panicking.”
Others took the expected weather in stride.
“You know, you take it as it comes, so, you know, it’s winter,” Carolyn Garcia said. “As long as you’re safe, and ready to have fun with your friends and families, I think you’ll be alright.”
