Police in Lambertville are recommending residents skip trick-or-treating and gatherings this year for Halloween, but have released guidelines for people who still choose to go.

The announcement comes just days after Gov. Phil Murphy said Halloween is still on in New Jersey.
Here are the guidelines:
The city says people giving out candy should leave it outside and at least six feet away from the house.
Residents who aren't participating should have their front lights turned off, front door closed, or sign directing people away from their house.

Face coverings are required for trick-or-treaters, even if a costume doesn't call for one. Personal interactions must be limited, and social distancing must be practiced.
