In the wake of a major terror attack in Paris Friday night, New Jersey is on high alert.
On his Twitter account, Gov. Chris Christie said, "We are working with our Homeland Security Department and the New Jersey State Police to make sure that all steps are taken to protect New Jersey."
Over 150 people were killed during seemingly coordinated attacks at several locations in Paris, including outside a sports stadium and inside a theater where a concert was taking place. Several of the alleged attackers were killed.
New Jersey officials across the state were offering their condolences as well as reiterating that New Jersey will be protected.
"We can only hope, as Americans experienced after 9/11, that through such unspeakable tragedy, an entire nation and world can come together as one. Tonight, we are one with France," Sen. Bob Menendez said in a statement.
According to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, agency police officers will be on heightened alert at all bridges, tunnels and rail lines. There will be increased patrols and checks of bags, buses, trucks and trains.
